About Us

Himalayan Shila started in a small kitchen in Jammu and Kashmir with a bag of resin, a lot of skepticism, and a single question: why is most of the Shilajit sold online so obviously fake?

We’re a wellness brand built around one product done properly. No shortcuts in sourcing. No vague ingredient labels. No borrowed credibility from words like “premium” that don’t mean anything without proof.

Our mission is to bring genuinely pure Himalayan Shilajit to people who are done settling for less, and to be the kind of company that shows you exactly what you’re buying and why it matters.

OUR STORY

Our founder, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, spent most of his twenties working in Ayurvedic wellness distribution across North India. He’d seen Shilajit move through supply chains, get diluted, get relabeled, get sold at a markup that bore no relationship to what was actually inside the jar.

In 2025, a family member started using a well-known Shilajit supplement for fatigue. Three months in, nothing had changed. Zahoor had the product tested privately. It had trace amounts of actual Shilajit and a long list of fillers.

That was the moment Himalayan Shila became a real idea instead of a passing thought.

He spent the following year sourcing directly from collectors in the Kumaon Himalayan range, working with two independent laboratories in Delhi and Bengaluru to establish a testing baseline, and figuring out how to build a brand that could put quality documentation front and center instead of hiding it in fine print.

Himalayan Shila launched in Mid 2026 with three product formats: resin, liquid, and stone. It sold out of its first batch in eleven days, mostly through word of mouth in Kashmir and Delhi region.

We haven’t outsourced our sourcing decisions since. We still won’t.

OUR COMMITMENT TO QUALITY

Shilajit is collected from cracks in Himalayan rock formations at altitudes between 3,000 and 5,000 metres. The raw material varies enormously depending on altitude, season, and how carefully it’s handled after collection. A lot of what gets sold as Shilajit has been processed in ways that reduce its fulvic acid content to almost nothing.

We collect from a fixed set of sourcing partners in the high-altitude regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh with whom we’ve worked for over three years. Every batch is tested before it leaves the source region and again after processing.

Our current testing protocol covers:

Fulvic acid content (minimum 60% for resin, verified by HPLC analysis). Heavy metal screening for lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium against FSSAI and USP limits. Microbiological safety testing. Authenticity markers that distinguish genuine Shilajit from common adulterants.

Every product batch has a corresponding certificate of analysis. We publish them. You can read them before you buy. That’s not normal in this industry, and we know it.

WHY HIMALAYAN SHILAJIT

Shilajit has been used in Ayurvedic practice for more than 3,000 years. The name translates roughly from Sanskrit as “conqueror of mountains” or “destroyer of weakness.” It appears in the Charaka Samhita and the Sushruta Samhita, two of the foundational texts of Ayurvedic medicine, where it’s described as a Rasayana, a class of preparations associated with rejuvenation and longevity.

Shilajit collected from the high-altitude rock formations of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh sits at some of the highest and least disturbed terrain in the Himalayas, which is part of why the fulvic acid concentration in genuine material from this region tends to be higher than lower-altitude sources.

We’re not going to tell you Shilajit cures anything. We don’t think that’s our job, and frankly, brands that make those claims tend to be the ones selling the weakest product. What we can say is that Shilajit has a long and well-documented history of traditional use, and that it’s been the subject of a growing body of scientific research over the last two decades.

If you’re curious about the research, we’ve put together a resources section on our site that links to published studies. We’d rather you read the actual science than take our word for it.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Most Shilajit brands talk about purity without being able to prove it. They use words like “authentic” and “Himalayan-sourced” because they sound good, not because they’re backed by documentation you can actually look at.

We do things differently on a few specific points.

Our certificates of analysis are batch-specific and publicly accessible. We don’t use a generic “tested for purity” badge; we link to the actual documents.

We sell three product forms: resin, liquid, and stone. Each has a different bioavailability profile and suits different preferences. We explain the differences plainly on each product page instead of telling you one is definitively better than the others.

We don’t add fillers, flavouring agents, or preservatives to any product. What’s in the jar is what’s on the label.

We have a return policy that actually works. If you receive a product that doesn’t match what we’ve described, we’ll replace it or refund it without requiring you to fill out three forms and wait two weeks.

OUR VALUES

We care about a few things a lot.

Honesty about what Shilajit is and isn’t. Transparency about where our product comes from and what testing it’s passed. Respect for traditional Ayurvedic knowledge without overclaiming or misrepresenting it. Fair relationships with the people who do the hard physical work of collection in the mountains. And quality that holds up under scrutiny, not just on a product page.

We also believe that brands in the wellness space have a particular obligation not to confuse people. There’s a lot of misinformation about Shilajit circulating online. Some of it is innocent. Some of it is designed to sell products that don’t work. We try hard to be a source of reliable information regardless of whether it leads to a sale.

TRUST AND TRANSPARENCY

Every batch of Himalayan Shila products goes through testing at two independent NABL-accredited laboratories in India before it reaches a customer. We test for composition, safety, and authenticity. The results are published as certificates of analysis, linked directly from each product page.

We source exclusively from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, specifically from collection zones above 3,500 metres altitude in some of the most remote and geologically rich terrain in the Indian subcontinent. We work with the same group of five sourcing families we’ve worked with since 2026. We pay above market rates and we don’t switch suppliers to cut costs.

Our processing is done in small batches to avoid the quality inconsistency that comes with high-volume manufacturing. We don’t use solvent extraction methods. The resin is purified using traditional water-based methods and dried at controlled low temperatures to preserve active compounds.

If you have questions about any of this, you can email us and you’ll hear back from someone who actually knows the answers.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Zahoor grew up in Central Kashmir and spent years working in wellness distribution before starting Himalayan Shila. He is not a doctor. He doesn’t claim to be one.

What he does know, because he’s spent the last several years learning it from the ground up, is the Shilajit supply chain: where the problems are, where the adulteration happens, and what genuine quality actually looks like at a laboratory level.

He started this company because he was tired of selling products he didn’t trust, and because he thought there was room in the market for something built around transparency instead of marketing copy.

He still personally reviews every certificate of analysis before a batch ships. He still visits the Ladakh collection region twice a year. He still answers customer emails sometimes, which his team finds both endearing and slightly chaotic.

His view on Shilajit is simple: it’s a remarkable natural substance with a genuine history of traditional use, it deserves to be sold honestly, and most of the industry is failing at that.

OUR PROMISE

You’ll always be able to see what’s in your product. The certificate of analysis for your batch is linked from the product page, not buried in a PDF you have to request.

If something goes wrong, we’ll fix it. Not grudgingly, not after three follow-up emails.

We won’t make health claims we can’t support. We’ll give you context, point you toward research, and let you make your own decisions.

We’ll keep sourcing from the same places we’ve always sourced from, even when it would be cheaper not to.

We’re a small company. We’re not trying to become the biggest Shilajit brand in India. We’re trying to be the most trustworthy one.

If you’ve read this far, you probably care about what goes into the products you buy. So do we.
